Evatt is an evolutionary biologist. After finishing school, Evatt completed an undergraduate science degree, followed by a PhD where he studied how marine populations adaptively evolve in response to ocean warming.

He is currently a Senior Research Scientist at Cesar Australia where he applies evolutionary theory to enhance Australia’s sustainable agricultural practices. His current research focuses on developing new biocontrol technologies and investigating how insects have coevolved with the diverse bacterial communities living inside them. As part of his role, Evatt collaborates across industries and scientific disciplines to turn research findings into real-world tools and solutions.

We welcomed Evatt back in 2025 for Science Week and spoke to Year 9 and Year 10 assemblies as well as VCE students about his career pathway.
