After completing his VCE at Frankston High School in 2004, Joel studied a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) at Monash University.  It was during his study he completed an internship at Southern Cross Ten.  This lead to a job offer to join the news team in Canberra.

After more than two years writing and presenting news in the nation’s capital, Joel was offered a new role as Host and Executive Producer of Weeknights, a new, locally produced, prime-time news program, which airs across north-east Victoria.

Joel is the sole presenter of Weeknights and oversees all aspects of the production on a daily basis. While other news rooms are winding back local content and production, Weeknights has established itself as a well-respected part of the regional media landscape.”

Joel came back to school to address an assembly in 2013.
