Tu’uhevaha Kaitu’u-Lino, 1998

Tu’uhe completed VCE at Frankston High School in 1998.  In 2002 she graduated from a Bachelor of Biomedical Science with First Class Honors (Monash University), before undertaking a PhD at Prince Henry’s Institute in Melbourne.  In 2008 her doctorate was awarded, and she simultaneously received a prestigious NHMRC post-doctoral fellowship to continue her research into Women’s Health.

She is currently working as a post-doctoral fellow in the Translational Obstetrics Group at the Mercy Hospital for Women: a young team comprising of a 50:50 split of scientists and clinician-scientists. Passionate about taking preclinical ideas from the laboratory to the clinic, her area of interest is identifying new ways to treat preeclampsia, a serious complication of pregnancy.

Throughout her career she has received a number of prestigious awards, notably Victorian Young Tall Poppy of the Year in 2012.

Tu’uhe came back to school to address an assembly in 2013.
